Guru Confirms His NPP Membership But Denies It’s Role In His SRC Ambitions

Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru, is a Ghanaian singer and the presidential candidate for the University of Ghana SRC. He has declared his membership in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He remarked that although he endorses Dr. Bawumia’s objectives, the ruling party was not interested in his quest for the SRC.

Guru also listed the main concerns he wants to solve if elected SRC President, including lodging, transportation, and the requirement for free data for online lectures, in an interview with Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM’s morning broadcast on Monday.

In keeping with his emphasis on the wellbeing of his students, Guru also intends to enact a policy requiring every hall to have at least one sick bay.

He stated in the interview:

“I’m a member of NPP, and I support Bawumia’s ideas, but they have no hand in my SRC ambition. The students don’t like mixing mainstream politics with school politics. I am solely sponsoring my campaign.”

“Accommodation is a problem, 60 percent of the students come from home, and transportation is difficult because the country is already hard,”

“I’ll address accommodation, transport, sick bay, and data issues when I become the UG SRC President,”
