Former Black Stars Defender Harrison Afful has deepened his international recognition in the world of football joining the newly formed American Club Stars FC.
The club in a recent Instagram post revealed the appointment of the former MLS player to the vice president position of the club. He has also gained a role in the technical team of the club’s youth team.
Stars FC acknowledged his experience in professional football and and will be of great contribution to the club. ” He has played in the MLS for eight years with both Charlotte FC and Columbus Crew“, they wrote.
“He won the MLs Cup with Columbus Crew in 2020 and Columbus Crew defender of the year in 2015. Afful was part of the Ghana National Team that placed third in the African Cup of Nations in 2008, 2010 and 2015. He captained Ghana in a friendly against Congo and created an assist that led to a draw in the 2014 World Cup against Germany”.
“We are very excited to have Harrison as part of the Stars family and look forward to seeing him spread his knowledge of the game in our area”, they added.
Afful, also an ex-Kotoko player is likely to retire from professional football soon and seem to be preparing towards it.
Harrison Afful appeared previously for Feyenoord Academy, Espérance de Tunis, and Columbus Crew and spent time on loan at Asante Kotoko.
