As his Bayern Munich team overcame a deficit to draw 1-1 away at Borussia Dortmund, Harry Kane hobbled off.
Vincent Kompany’s team appeared to be headed for their first Bundesliga loss of the season after Jamie Gittens’ incredible solo effort in the first half, but Jamal Musiala equalized with five minutes remaining.
After Nico Schlotterbeck’s ball down the left found Gittens on the halfway line, the otherwise calm first half of “Der Klassiker” quickly came to life.
Before Bayern’s Manuel Neuer could stop his fizzed left-footed strike, the England Under-21 international drove into the penalty area after swerving past Konrad Laimer, the team’s right-back.
After Kane, who scored a hat-trick against Dortmund the previous season, Gittens became the second Englishman to score in this match in the 27th minute.
Six minutes later, England captain and Bundesliga leading scorer Kane was sent off before halftime, further degrading Bayern’s first half. He was going cautiously and signaled to be replaced, but not because he had been tackled.
It wasn’t until the second half that the visitors truly put Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to the test.
When he teed up at the conclusion of Musiala’s crazy run, Thomas Muller, who replaced Kane, should have tied the score soon after the restart but was unable to beat Kobel’s outstretched hand.
After nearly leveling the score from a distance, Musiala eventually did so after heading in a cross from replacement Michael Olise.

With his sixth goal in ten Bundesliga games this season, the Germany midfielder maintained Bayern’s undefeated home record.
They maintained their lead with a draw, seven points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt. However, if Frankfurt wins on Sunday against Heidenheim, they will reduce that margin to four points.
Dortmund’s point put them above of Freiburg on goal differential and into fifth place.
