Leader of Rugby Africa Herbert Mensah has drawn attention to Ghana’s potential to host Rugby World Cup and other related sporting events.
He cited Ghana’s highly rated rugby stadium to be one of the factors for his appeal due to its international standard. Herbert Mensah was speaking on the All African Games 2023 press briefing organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The ex Kotoko chief also acknowledged the government’s efforts and investments in the ultra modern stadium to elevate the country’s status in the game of Rugby.
“We need to commend the government for putting together such excellent games. In sports, if you want results, you need to invest off the field to achieve on the field,” he said.
Herbert Mensah, an alumnus of Sussex University in the UK, is a self-made, highly successful businessman who has also developed and produced some of the biggest and most memorable media extravaganzas in Ghana.
Herbert became involved in the arena of sports management, in which he has employed his leadership, charisma and resources to change the face of football in Ghana, and continues to do so, while also championing the growth of one of Ghana’s less obvious sports, rugby.
In his quest to contribute to the development of Africa, he initiated various ongoing research and development projects. They range from renewable energy to regional economic cooperation ventures.
Ghana is currently hosting thousands of athletes from 54 countries for the All African Games for the first time. They are competing in diverse sport codes such as swimming,football, boxing and among others. The competition has proven to be exciting so far.
