According to reports, Inter is considering a potential bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka should their current right-back, Denzel Dumfries, depart the club in the upcoming transfer window. Dumfries, who has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United in the past, is nearing the end of his contract, and his departure this summer seems likely if contract negotiations for an extension fail.
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter is eyeing Wan-Bissaka as a potential replacement for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The Italian club is keen on strengthening their squad and sees Wan-Bissaka as a valuable addition.
Wan-Bissaka is currently under contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2025, as the club exercised a one-year extension clause in January. However, negotiations for a new contract have not been finalized, raising the possibility of United considering a sale to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Reportedly, Wan-Bissaka might be acquired for €15 million (equivalent to approximately £13 million), while Inter values their current right-back, Dumfries, at £25 million.
Wan-Bissaka, aged 26, has participated in only 13 Premier League matches this season due to recurring hamstring problems. Since joining Old Trafford, he has played a total of 181 games but has sat out 12 games this season.
Should Wan-Bissaka decide to join Serie A, he might reunite with his current teammate Anthony Martial, who has also been rumored to be on Inter’s radar.
The French forward is poised to enter free agency when the season concludes, as Manchester United is unlikely to activate the extension clause in his contract.
Inter Milan currently holds a commanding position at the summit of the Serie A standings, with AC Milan trailing by 14 points in second place.
