According to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have reached an agreement on a three-year, $192.9 million maximum contract deal that guarantees the former MVP a total of $299.5 million through the 2028–2029 season.
On Friday morning, Embiid declared that he and the franchise had reached a decision regarding the deal, expressing his desire to play for the Sixers “for the rest of my career.”
“Philadelphia is my home. I want to be here for the rest of my career,” Embiid wrote on Instagram . “I love this community and everything they’ve given me and my family. There’s so much more work to do. You guys deserve a championship and I believe we’re just getting started!”
Embiid will accept the new three-year deal instead of picking up his $59 million player option for the 2026–2027 campaign. In the last year of the new contract, he will make $69 million.
Under the new agreement, his career earnings will reach $514.8 million, which will rank fourth in NBA history after LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Paul George.
The 30-year-old Embiid, the 2023 NBA MVP and five-time All-NBA pick, continues to be the team’s mainstay and has established himself as one of the most formidable centers in modern NBA history.According to ESPN Research, he has averaged 27.9 points per game throughout his career, which ranks him fourth all-time behind Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, and Luka Doncic.
