Juju’ doesn’t work in boxing – Boxer

Popular Ghanaian boxer and social media sensation, Bukom Banku has debunked claims that juju, or traditional spiritual practices, play a role in a boxer’s success.

He attributed his achievements in the ring to hard work, dedication, and rigorous training rather than supernatural means.

Speaking on ‘The Real Talk Podcast’ hosted by Elizabeth Essuman, the former professional boxer who one-time had an undefeated record of 28-0-0 (21 K0), said boxing is a sport of discipline, high intensity, and calculations to outwit opponent.

“Honestly I don’t think anyone can just wake up, go into the ring with ‘juju’ and come out victorious; you have to train effectively, be prepared and understand that this is sports where only victors win”.

Bukom Banku, a former host of GhOne TV’s ‘Bukom Banku Live’ show, also sparked controversy with comments on Patricia Asiedu, also known as Nana Agradaa, a self-proclaimed pastor and former fetish priestess.

Agradaa was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for defrauding hundreds of people through a fake “money doubling” scheme, where she promised to double their money in exchange for large sums.

Bukom Banku expressed sympathy for Agradaa, suggesting that her 15-year prison sentence was too harsh, particularly considering her gender. He believes a woman should receive a lesser sentence.
