A rainfall that devastated a 450-acre farm in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region has put over 150 young people in danger of losing their jobs.
The storm caused significant damage to the farm, resulting in the flooding of over 100 acres of the Maphlix farm and the loss of investments over $1.5 million.
With more than 200 employees, Maphlix Farm is a large agricultural employer in the area. Following severe flooding, 150 acres of farmland were inundated.
Extensive water coverage, structural damage, and the destruction of more than 20 greenhouses were discovered during post-storm examinations.
Employees, who expressed their worries to Citi News, worry about the future of their jobs because of the substantial damage.
In an interview, Dr. Felix Kamassah, CEO of Maphlix Trust Ghana Limited, stated that job losses could result from the storm’s effects.
In an effort to lessen these problems, he made a plea to the government for aid and emphasized the necessity of providing farmers with more insurance coverage.
When the news was being covered, Edem Agbana, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Ketu North, was there and pushed for incentives to maintain the farm and prevent further job losses.
