Liverpool Turns Down Southampton’s Bid For Carvalho

Southampton made an offer of roughly £15 million for Fabio Carvalho, which Liverpool turned down.

The 21-year-old forward is reportedly the target of Southampton’s long-standing desire, although the Reds would prefer a permanent deal, and Southampton’s offer is far less than what they would want.

Carvalho has shown promise while on Liverpool’s preseason tour in the US, scoring goals in victories over Manchester United and Arsenal.

Until Liverpool is convinced to sell by a big offer, new manager Arne Slot thinks he may utilize him in his 4-2-3-1 formation.

Slot has been able to evaluate his young players because so many players have joined his squad late; Carvalho and defender Sepp van den Berg have stood out.

When the other players from the Premier League club, such as forwards Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo, return after lengthy vacations following the Copa America and Euro 2024, Carvalho might still have limited first-team opportunities.

Carvalho, who played on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City last season, has drawn interest from other teams as well.

In his 20 games with the Tigers, he scored nine goals, so another loan move would be a last resort.
