Mahama Extends Assistance To Kantamanto Traders

Traders impacted by the recent fire at Kantamanto Market have received a message from President John Dramani Mahama.

This year’s January 2 fire devastated traders by destroying hundreds of stores and property valued at millions of Ghanaian cedis.

President Mahama met with the traders, acknowledged the significant loss, and gave them his administration’s support.

He disclosed that measures have been made by his government to stop such fires from occurring in the future.

We can’t rule out the possibility of arsonists being behind these fires,” he said. “We’ve held a meeting with security heads to tackle this issue, and I’ve asked security to tighten security around markets.”

President Mahama has directed the fire department to establish stations close to important marketplaces and install cameras to detect and capture fire starters in order to stop future fires.

Additionally, he promised to assist traders in mitigating their losses and to collaborate with them to rebuild the market in a more well-thought-out manner.
