John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has reaffirmed his opposition to events involving LGBTQ+ people.
Therefore, when he is reelected on December 7, 2024, the former President has promised to further his efforts to combat it.
Mr. Mahama voiced his concerns about President Nana Akufo-Addo’s anti-LGBTQ+ bill’s delayed passage during a meeting with the church in Accra on Tuesday, October 1.
He emphasized that such actions are inappropriate for a Christian church and promised to support laws that would limit the power and activities of the LGBTQ+ community in Ghana.
He promised religious leaders that as soon as he took office, his government would make this issue a top priority and make sure the anti-LGBTQ+ law was passed quickly.
NAkufo-Addo has delayed signing the bill due to ongoing legal challenges in the Supreme Court, causing further delays in its progress.
