Manchester United is considering signing Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, as reported by credible sources.
The club is seeking another forward after relying heavily on 21-year-old Rasmus Hojlund during the 2023/24 season and parting ways with Anthony Martial after his contract expired.
In January, there were Reports that United were keeping an eye on Zirkzee’s progress, and now it seems they are prepared to pursue him.
According to The Athletic and Sky Sport Germany, United are speaking with Zirkzee’s representatives about a potential transfer.
Zirkzee has also been negotiating with AC Milan for a move to San Siro. While Milan expressed readiness to meet his £34m release clause, they’ve faced challenges in finalizing personal terms and handling substantial agent fees.
Due to this deadlock, United now has the opportunity to “hijack” the agreement and sign Zirkzee, one of “several candidates,” to bolster their front line.
Zirkzee, initially left out of the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024, joined late due to injuries. Despite starting his holiday, he rejoined the Dutch camp in Germany.
The 23-year-old played a key role for Bologna, securing them a fifth-place Serie A finish and Champions League qualification. He appeared in 34 league games, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists.
Bayern Munich sold Zirkzee to Bologna in 2022, and the German powerhouse is still obligated to fulfill their buyback option.
