Savinho, a winger from Brazil, has signed a contract with Manchester City worth 40 million euros (£30.8 million) until 2029 from French team Troyes.
The previous season, Girona finished third in La Liga with the 20-year-old playing brilliantly while on loan.
Troyes and Girona are both members of the City Football Group.
Savinho described City as the “best team in the world” right now, and he expressed his excitement at working with manager Pep Guardiola, whom he referred to as “one of the greatest coaches ever.”
The Brazilian Savinho, sometimes referred to as Savio, began his playing career at Atletico Mineiro before moving to Troyes in the summer of 2022.
However, he was sent on loan to PSV Eindhoven for the 2022–2023 season, so he never saw action in a competitive game for the Ligue 2 team.
Savinho had a great season last season while on loan at Girona, where he scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions. Despite playing in just eight games for the Dutch powerhouses, Savinho was called up for his first senior Brazil squad in March.
He then made his debut against England and scored his first goal for his country in the Copa America group stage match against Paraguay.
City director of football Txiki Begiristain said:
“He has a big role to play for Manchester City this season and beyond.
“We are totally confident in his ability. He is still young and has the potential to become even better, and everyone knows that Pep is the best at helping players develop even further.
“But he has already shown his huge quality and technical ability and is an exciting addition to our attacking area.”
