Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has shared his thoughts on the true costs of marriage, emphasizing that it involves more than just financial expenses.
In a recent interview with Joy Prime, Stonebwoy explained that being a man carries significant responsibilities, particularly in marriage. He noted that a successful marriage requires time, energy, and emotional investment resources that are invaluable and cannot simply be bought, despite their costs.
“Interestingly, marriage is expensive, and having a wife comes with its own expenses. You have to invest time, which is valuable. You need to allocate resources, which don’t come cheap. You must give attention, and attention is also costly. These are things you can’t buy,” he said.
The “Into the Future” hitmaker further pointed out that society often expects men to bear most of the responsibilities within a marriage. This expectation can be both emotionally and financially challenging.
“As a man, I grew up in a household where I witnessed responsibility firsthand. I understand that societal norms require men to take on caretaking roles. While it is expected of us, it’s not easy, and it certainly isn’t cheap. So, the expenses are real,” he added.
Stonebwoy and his wife, Dr Louisa marked their eighth wedding anniversary last month. The couple’s union which has produced two children has been a subject of admiration and inspiration for many, with Stonebwoy frequently expressing his love and appreciation for his wife and family, showcasing the strength and stability of their relationship despite the demands of his music career.
