Michael Essien, a former Ghanaian midfielder, has achieved another significant accomplishment in his post-playing career by earning a UEFA qualification in football management.
The former footballer for Real Madrid and Chelsea has spent months studying to earn his coaching credentials.
Essien expressed his pride on social media after finishing the program, posting, “Finally done with my UEFA certificate in football management journey. Thanks to all for the help. I keep learning about the beautiful game. #UEFACFM.”
Essien is currently employed by Danish club FC Nordsjaelland as an individual talent coach, where he uses his skills to guide new athletes.
After playing for Bastia in France, Essien had a good stint at Olympique Lyonnais. He became one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League after Chelsea took notice of his exceptional achievements at Lyon.
Essien won several accolades with Chelsea, including a UEFA Champions League trophy and Premier League titles.
Later, he played for well-known teams like Real Madrid and AC Milan, where his strong midfield skills won him praise from all over the world.
