The nominations of Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Herbert Krapah as the Minister of State for the Energy Ministry have been approved by Parliament.
The Minority organized a walkout in front of the vote, arguing that President Akufo-Addo’s nominations would expand government and increase spending, hence the approval was biased.
Due to identical concerns, the Minority caucus has previously abstained from the Appointments Committee’s screening of the appointed ministers.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the majority leader, refuted allegations that the government is growing larger in the midst of a financial crisis.
