Mohammed Kudus Strikes Opening Goal But Sees Red Card In West Ham Tottenham Clash

Despite giving his team the lead early on in Saturday’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur, Mohammed Kudus was dismissed from the game.

The Ghanaian striker gave West Ham an early lead in the eighteenth minute after scoring following a cross by Jarrod Bowen.

But in the 36th minute, Dejan Kulusevski’s strike struck both posts before going in, bringing the score even and giving Spurs a response.

The second half saw Tottenham maintain their superiority, particularly after Pape Matar Sarr took James Maddison’s place. Spurs took the lead after just seven minutes thanks to a goal from Yves Bissouma, who finished off Destiny Udogie’s cutback.

Alphonse Areola of West Ham stopped Son Heung-min’s effort, but it bounced off Jean-Clair Todibo and into the net, extending Spurs’ lead. Son Heung-min was crucial throughout the game.

Son scored again five minutes later, this time taking advantage of a stray ball that West Ham had failed to clear. Tottenham kept control even though they missed a similar opportunity soon after.

The game changed dramatically when Kudus was given a red card for pushing Sarr and Micky van de Ven in the face, according to a VAR review.

After eight Premier League games this season, West Ham has only won two games, placing them in 14th place with eight points following the loss.

Kudus, who has two goals in ten games for West Ham would now miss 3 games.
