Monday 5th August Declared National Holiday

The government of Ghana has declared Monday, August 5, 2024, to be an additional public holiday.

Every year on August 4, Founders’ Day is observed as a statutory public holiday in remembrance of the country’s founders.

Since the date falls on a Sunday this year, President Akufo-Addo has declared the following Monday a public holiday by Executive Instrument (E.I.) and in compliance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601).

All residents now have the chance to properly celebrate Founders’ Day thanks to this announcement.

It is expected that Ghanaians participate in the festivities and consider the contributions made by the country’s founders.

In Ghana, Founders’ Day is a significant holiday that honors the founding fathers’ accomplishments and highlights the nation’s rich cultural legacy.
