Mourinho Gets Yellow Card Just 20Min Into His First Game In Turkey
Within 20 minutes of taking charge of Fenerbahce in his debut Turkish Super Lig match, Jose Mourinho received a yellow card.
Since taking over the Turkish team in June, Mourinho has overseen three Champions League qualifying matches. He made his debut in the Fenerbahce dugout during a Turkish Super Lig match against Adana Demirspor on Saturday.
The 61-year-old coach engaged in many face-offs with the match officials to open the game on a heated note. The Portuguese player approached the fourth official in the 20th minute after a decision went against his club, forcing referee Atilla Karaoglan to book the Fenerbahce manager.
Edin Dzeko’s goal in the 34th minute gave the Turkish Super Lig giants, who are vying for the league crown for the first time since the 2013–14 campaign, a strong start.
On Tuesday, Mourinho’s team will play Lille in the second leg of their third-round Champions League qualification encounter. In the first leg, which was an away match, they had lost 1-2.
