Nigerian Actor RMD Endorses Mahama
Nigerian actor Richard Mofe Damijo, better known by his stage name RMD, has voiced optimism about the chances of John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, becoming president of Ghana.
RMD urged voters to select a presidential candidate on December 7 who will prioritize the needs of Ghanaians over all other considerations, while speaking to Doreen Avio on the red carpet at the 2024 EMY Awards in Accra.
He stated that he has a favorite and would like Ghanaians to support that individual.
“I think they shouldn’t make the mistake that Africans want to make. They should vote for the best man, the man who has your back. Not very many people on the election ballot have your back, so I think that Ghanaians know the one that has their backs, so they should vote for that person,”
“I like Mahama,” the venerated Nigerian actor said.
When asked by Doreen if he was friends with Mahama, he said: “I have never met him. I just know that every time that I pass through the airport and he built it, and a lot of Ghanaian friends of mine tell me he did a lot of work and I think you guys should give him a chance again and see how far it goes.”
On December 7, 2024, Ghana will hold elections to choose its president and members of parliament for the ensuing four years.
Former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, who served from 2013 to 2017, is running for president again after losing his second bid in 2020.
