Nora Häuptle Quits As Black Queens Coach For A 2-Year Deal For Zambia’s Copper Queens.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has chosen Swiss coach Nora Häuptle as the head coach of the senior women’s national team, the Copper Queens, on a two-year deal.

After her contract with Ghana’s Black Queens ended without being renewed, Häuptle, 41, joined the Copper Queens as head coach.

In 2023, she first became leadership of the Black Queens, replacing Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, who had held the position since 2019.

Häuptle won the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup and guided the Black Queens to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) while she was with Ghana.

The Black Queens showed notable progress under her direction, including a great showing in the Women’s Olympic qualifying tournament, where she narrowly lost to Zambia Copper Queens.

Häuptle chose to take on a fresh challenge with Zambia instead of accepting the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) offer to extend her contract.

Following FAZ’s split from former head coach Bruce Mwape, she was appointed. On December 21, the FAZ Executive Committee met and made the final decision.

Häuptle will get a salary of $7,000 per month and will be formally introduced next week.

Häuptle worked as a technical advisor for Ghana’s U-20 women’s squad at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica prior to her time with the Black Queens.
