NPP La Dadekotopon Parliamentary Primary Elections Ongoing

On Saturday, April 27, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will conduct its parliamentary primary in the La Dadekotopon Constituency.

Solomon Kotey Niikio, the local MCE, and Joseph Addo, President Akufo-Addo’s personal driver, are two of the candidates who have filed their candidacy for the primary.

After Dr. Joseph Gerald Tetteh Nyanyofio, the elected parliamentary candidate, resigned for personal reasons, the NPP National Executive Committee authorized the primary.

In the 2020 election, the NPP faced a setback as they lost the La Dadekotopon seat to Rita Naa Odoley Sowah of the NDC. This defeat marked a significant shift in political representation within the constituency, as the NDC candidate emerged victorious, securing the parliamentary seat previously held by the NPP.

Rita Naa Odoley Sowah’s win in La Dadekotopon signaled a change in voter preferences and highlighted the competitive nature of Ghanaian politics. The outcome underscored the importance of effective campaign strategies and resonating with the electorate’s needs and aspirations in securing electoral success.

With the upcoming December polls on the horizon, the NPP is steadfast in its determination to reclaim the La Dadekotopon parliamentary seat. Following their defeat in the 2020 election, the party has intensified its efforts to reconnect with constituents and address the issues that may have contributed to their loss. Strategizing and mobilizing support have become focal points for the NPP as they seek to regain the trust and confidence of voters in the constituency.

For the NPP, winning back the La Dadekotopon seat represents not only a political victory but also a validation of their policies and vision for the constituency. The party is working tirelessly to rally support, engage with the electorate, and present a compelling platform that resonates with the needs and aspirations of the people. With the December polls looming, the NPP remains committed to its goal of reclaiming the parliamentary seat and restoring its presence in La Dadekotopon.
