Okyeame Kwame Hosts 14th Free Hepatitis B Screening Inside Dome Market
The 14th iteration of Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame’s yearly Hepatitis B screening program has been arranged for Dome residents in Accra.
This year’s Dome Market screening was made possible by a partnership between the Noguchi Memorial Institute and the MDS Lancet Laboratories.
Every year, in honor of World Hepatitis Day, the screening is conducted by Okyeame Kwame’s OK Foundation.
Every year on July 28, the globe observes globe Hepatitis Day, an occasion meant to raise public awareness of viral hepatitis and the disease’s regional and global burden.
The goal of this medical outreach program is to provide free screening for hepatitis B and C, hemoglobin levels, and malaria infection. Additionally, there was a free hepatitis B vaccination available to those who proved negative for the disease. The group also offered assistance and counseling to those who could have tested positive.
Associate Professor Kwadwo Asamoah Kusi of the Noguchi Memorial Institute claims that they chose to work with Okyeame Kwame on this project because they observed how innovative his idea had become over time.
The goal of eradicating hepatitis B from Ghana has been Okyeame Kwame’s driving force for fourteen years as he led the team on the streets of Dome Market to raise awareness of the disease and ask people to participate in a free screening exercise.
In order to further the deserving cause, he also urged private citizens and corporate organizations to join forces and provide assistance in various ways.
