Joao Palhinha, a midfielder for Fulham, has joined Bayern Munich on a four-year deal through June 2028 for a reported fee of £42.3 million plus £4.2 million in add-ons.
A year after their first contract to sign the 28-year-old Portugal international fell through, he now plays for the Bundesliga team.
Palhinha stated on the club website, “This is one of the happiest days of my life.”
“I’m currently a player for one of Europe’s elite teams. I’m really pleased of myself since it’s a dream come true for me.
Palhinha costed over £17 million to transfer from Sporting Lisbon to Fulham in 2022.
He was named Player of the Year by the team in his debut campaign at Craven Cottage.
Over the course of two seasons in west London, the midfielder made 79 appearances and scored eight goals.
Palhinha follows the winger for Crystal Palace Michael Olise’ move to Bayern.
Following his loan stint at Tottenham during the previous season, English defender Eric Dier has also committed to the Bundesliga team permanently.
Bayer Leverkusen halted Bayern’s 11-year reign as the German champion in 2023–2024.
