SDA Church Renews Request For Election Date Change To Respect Sabbath

The SDA Church in Ghana urges the Electoral Commission to change the upcoming election date to respect Sabbath observance. They stress the importance of accommodating religious practices in democracy and reaffirm their commitment to Sabbath observance while encouraging civic participation. The church advises against using congregational meetings for political activities, focusing instead on worship and community.

The church leaders have urged their members to ponder carefully on their voting choices in light of their fervent views about keeping Sabbath observance in light of the impending election, which is set for Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Consistent with its historical position, the Seventh Day Adventist Church maintains that non-religious activities, including voting, are not permitted on the Sabbath.

The church is pushing for a different election date in order to guarantee that all citizens, regardless of their religious background, have the chance to participate in democracy without sacrificing their religious beliefs. They emphasize that it is against their religious beliefs to cast ballots on Saturday, the holy Sabbath day.Voter
