Sekou Nkrumah Praises NDC For Following Ideals Of CPP

According to Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has been largely replaced by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in terms of function and goals.

Speaking on Joy News PM Express on Tuesday, he said that the NDC’s dominance in political areas that the CPP formerly held has impeded efforts to rebuild the party since 1992.

Former NDC member Dr. Nkrumah said, “The CPP had little room to operate because the NDC had captured its constituents.” Most Nkrumah supporters are currently found in the NDC.

Drawing on the examples of earlier leaders such as his father and former President Rawlings, Dr. Nkrumah stressed the significance of leadership in steering the party in the correct direction.

He made it clear that the NDC’s dedication to solving Ghanaians’ issues, not John Mahama’s leadership of the party, is what matters.

In order to change their approach to leadership, Dr. Nkrumah challenged aspiring leaders to take lessons from history and the inspirational leadership of people like Rawlings and his father.

“Leadership requires looking in the mirror and assessing if one has the capacity, intellectual ability, depth, and right inspiration to lead,” he said.

When asked if he sees himself as a potential leader, Dr Nkrumah responded, “I have some ideas but am still seeking the inspiration to lead the ordinary Ghanaian, who are my constituents.”
