Semenyo Shines As Bournemouth Shocks Manchester City

At Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth defeated Manchester City for the first time ever thanks to goals from Antoine Semenyo and Evanlison.

The Cherries, who had accumulated four points from their last two games against Aston Villa and Arsenal, got off to a fast start and were full of energy.

After barely two minutes, Ederson had to make a double save after denying Justin Kluivert and Semenyo.

After setting the tone, Bournemouth kept up their pressure and were rewarded in the ninth minute when Semenyo turned in a cutback from Milos Kerkez from the byeline.

The first half was mostly frustrating, with City failing to muster an attempt on goal.

With confidence, Bournemouth entered the second half and nearly doubled their advantage in the first minute, but Ederson was wildly off line to block Evanlison’s attempt.

However, Evanlison took advantage of his next chance, sliding to meet Kerkez’s low ball and putting it in the bottom corner.

Three seconds after Marcus Tavernier’s attempt bounced off the post, Adam Smith had an open goal and should have given the home team the lead.

Erling Haaland was having trouble getting any force on his shot in the 80th minute, but it was City’s first attempt on goal, although a weak one.Josko Gvardiol gave optimism two minutes later by heading past a dejected Mark Travers, but the Premier League winners were unable to equalize.

Haaland believed he had won a point deep into extra time, but his rebound went against the post after his close-range attempt was saved on the line.

Following Liverpool’s comeback victory over Brighton, City drops to second place, while Bournemouth moves up to ninth.
