UGSRC Presidential Race: Guru Finally Approved To Run In Election
The disqualification of Ghanaian musicians Maradona Adjei Yeboah and Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah from the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presidential election has been overwhelmingly restored by the University of Ghana’s Appeals Board.
The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Ghana prohibited Mr. Yeboah, also referred to as Guru, from running in the student body’s presidential election.
The SRC claims that Guru did not meet the requirements to be eligible to run for the seat.
Following a protracted legal battle, the Appeals Board declared Guru to be innocent and instructed him to hold the voting for all SRC candidates who had been approved by the screening committee on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs (ODSA).
The letter further instructed the University of Ghana’s Computer Services (UGCS) to receive the list of candidates and their positions from the school’s Electoral Commission following voting.
