Veteran Nollywood Actor Emmanuel France Dead

Veteran Nollywood actor Emmanuel France, best known for his parts in The Curfew (2021) and Domitilla (1996), passed away at the age of 84.

On Monday, Olufemi Ogedengbe, his colleague and filmmaker, revealed the news on his Instagram page.

“Rest in peace to one of Nollywood legends uncle Emmanuel France, One of the actors I took to Tanzania in 2006, Shot three movies with him: Cross MY Sin, She Is My Sister & THE Director,” his post read.

His cause of death is still unknown.

He entered the Nigerian film business in the 1980s, having been born in Kano State. He became well-known for his performances as Witch Doctors in Nollywood productions.

The late actor gained notoriety for his catchphrase “Tufancha,” which he used frequently in the beloved Nollywood movie Suicide Mission.

Oganigwe, Narrow Escape, Witches, Silent Night, Exile, and Silent Night are among his other film credits.

While attending the Accra School of Journalism, he got his start in the professional world in Ghana.

While he was in Ghana, he also began writing screenplays. In 1967, he penned his first script, a theatrical drama called “Mission of John the Baptist,” for the Catholic Church.

He began working for the Ghana Film Corporation in 1969, the same year he filmed “The Market Day,” his feature debut.

He also filmed the road safety documentary “No Time to Die” while he was in Ghana.

In a same vein, he traveled to Angola in 1974 to film a movie supported by the Ghana Fishing Industry. After his return, he was hired by the Ghana Broadcasting Organization to create the screenplay for Osopurazi, which at the time was one of the finest soup operas in Ghana.
