Video: Koda Exposes Doctor Mistreating Him With Wrong Drugs

In a now-viral video, the late Ghanaian gospel artist Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, often known as KODA, exposes a doctor who prescribed the wrong drug to him for eight months.

KODA described his experience in the video, saying that his wife and sister had brought him to a large hospital in Takoradi in 2015 because of health problems. He went on to say that the doctor had given him a prescription and told him to take it on a daily basis.

Following a period of symptom onset, KODA made the decision to look up the prescribed drug online. He was shocked to learn that one of the medications had sulfur, which he knew would not be good for him because of his G6PD deficiency. KODA didn’t notice the mistake until he did his own study, even though he had been taking the drug for eight months.

He said, “I get emotional talking about it,” expressing his dissatisfaction. I can no longer trust anything you say. However, KODA urged people to challenge physicians and look up the prescription drugs they are provided, stressing the need of speaking up for oneself when it comes to healthcare.

Furthermore, he underlined that raising one’s voice might avert dire repercussions even if it could come out as too strong.

Social media users have taken to the video, which has generated conversations on the value of patient advocacy and the dangers of medical mistakes.

Based in Takoradi in Ghana’s Western Region, Kofi Owusu Dua Anto (KODA) was well-known for his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, gospel vocalist, and music producer.
