John Awuah Otabil, a.k.a. Sports Cotyledon, was a respected sports journalist who passed away.
On Tuesday, August 21, his employers, Class Media Group (CMG), made a poignant tribute announcement regarding his passing.
The tribute said, “His passion and dedication to exceptional sports coverage were truly inspiring,” highlighting his extraordinary enthusiasm and dedication to sports journalism. Even though his insights will be much missed, his legacy will go on. Goodbye, John. I hope you find tranquility while you slumber.
Awuah Otabil hosted the Matured Sports Show on CTV and served as the head of sports for the network.
He joined Obrempong FM 91.7 MHz in Agona Swedru in 2013, which marked the start of his sports journalism career.
He left there in 2018 after almost five years, working for HSTV before stopping by SANKOFA TV and BASE ONE TV.
Awuah joined the Class Media Group in 2023 and carried on contributing significantly to sports journalism there.
He was chosen as the Foklex Media Awards 2024’s Best Foreign Sports Presenter.
His sudden death has created a vacuum in the field, but his steadfast dedication to sports journalism will go on.
