Yaa Jantuah Calls for Akufo-Addo’s Impeachment
Nana Yaa Jantuah, ex-Director of Public Relations at PURC, has urged Parliament to impeach President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. She argues that removing him from office would prevent him from spreading misinformation about pressing issues like the recent power outages (Dumsor), which he claimed to have resolved.
President Akufo-Addo, speaking at the May Day celebration in Accra yesterday, praised the efforts in the energy sector, assuring stable power supply. He noted that on Tuesday, April 30, the whole country didn’t face power cuts (dumsor), signaling a marked improvement in the power situation.
President Akufo-Addo further noted that “issues surrounding the maintenance of the transformers have been resolved,” leading to a stable power supply across the country. However, the former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Yaa Jantuah, bemoaned the President’s lack of appreciation of reality.
What she said:
“I don’t understand the behaviour of the President…because whoever briefed him? The handlers who briefed him—did they tell him Dumsor is gone? He said Tuesday…and on Tuesday I was in Dumsor wide area, I found out…my lights were off on Tuesday 6 to 6 straight 12 hours that is Dumsor. You cannot describe it as anything but there’s a challenge in the system.”
“Nobody has dumsor on their name, the President himself does not have dumsor on his name, It is a situation that has to be resolved; there’s nothing wrong with the nation going through such a challenge. Accept the challenges and let’s all resolve them.
“Where are we going? We need to do things properly and differently…maybe somebody should impeach the president for us…so that we will not hear these things anymore. The Parliament may…that is the only way. So that when he goes to sit home, somebody should take over,” she told Naa Ashorkor on The Big Issue on TV3 New Day on Thursday.
“Then we will not hear these things, and then we will have somebody who will listen to advice; I don’t know who it is but maybe we don’t have to hear him anymore.”
“Parliament should do us a favour and let President Akufo-Addo go because he has checked out,”
