Chelsea Finalizes Move Of Caleb Wiley From Atlanta United

Caleb Wiley has officially joined Chelsea from Atlanta United.

With the option to extend for an additional year, the 19-year-old inked a six-year contract. The Athletic earlier revealed that Chelsea will pay their MLS counterparts approximately £8.5 million ($10.9 million), and that Wiley would likely spend the 2024–25 season on loan at Strasbourg, a top division French team that is also owned by Chelsea’s owners, BlueCo.

Wiley is presently practicing with the American Olympic team, which will play matches against Guinea and New Zealand on Wednesday before taking on the tournament’s hosts, France.

The left-back has earned five caps for the Under-23s and two for the senior U.S. team.

Following the high-profile sales of Georgios Giakoumakis to Cruz Azul of Mexico and Thiago Almada to Brazilian side Botafogo in an MLS record deal, Atlanta has now sold Wiley.

Wiley joins the summer recruits Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Renato Viega, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Omari Kellyman at Chelsea, who have already been active in the transfer window.
