The Barclays Manager of the Month for September 2024 is Enzo Maresca.
Maresca leads Chelsea through the month undefeated, winning three games and drawing the other, to earn the accolade in just his second month as a Premier League head coach.
Maresca’s team won back-to-back away games against AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United following a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. The club concluded the month with a 4-2 triumph against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Throughout the month, Chelsea scored nine goals, which is a competition high. Maresca attributes the team’s success to everyone at the club, not just himself.
“We had a very good month,” he said. “We all need people around us to make things better. I’m very grateful to have all of them [his staff].
“We are always looking at new things and how we can improve from different football and different countries.”
Since Thomas Tuchel won it in October 2021, Maresca is the first Chelsea head coach to receive the honor.
The 44-year-old won the prize after a panel of experts and public votes were merged. He beat off a five-person shortlist that also included Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery, Marco Silva, and Arne Slot.
Chelsea now has two accolades in September after Cole Palmer was chosen as the EA SPORTS Player of the Month.
