FIFA Rankings: Black Stars Drops Further Below, Now 14th In Africa

Following a fruitless October international window, the Ghanaian Black Stars dropped three spots from 70th to 73rd in the most recent FIFA Coca-Cola rankings.

The four-time African champions are now ranked fourteenth on the continent.

This rating decline comes after the team’s poor showing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tournament, where they lost to Sudan and drew earlier this month.

Ghana had already fallen to 70th place in September as a result of comparable outcomes against Niger and Angola.

Ghana, meantime, is in danger of missing the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco because they haven’t won in Group F of the qualifying round.

Comoros, Ghana’s World Cup qualifying opponents, on the other hand, saw notable improvement, moving up ten spots in the world rankings.

France, Spain, England, and Brazil complete the top five, with Argentina still at the top.

The top countries in Africa are Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, and Algeria. Niger and Angola will be Ghana’s next opponents in the qualifiers’ last round next month.
