American Filmmaker Tyler Perry Settles Dispute With Kofi Nti Over Copyright Issues

According to reports, Kofi Nti, a Ghanaian highlife artist, and renowned American filmmaker Tyler Perry have struck a settlement over the unapproved use of Nti’s song.

In a behind-the-scenes video from his hit TV show Sistas, Tyler included Nti’s “Odo Nwom.”

When the video went viral on social media, the song—which features fellow highlife performer Ofori Amponsah—became well-known.

Kofi Nti claims that his legal lawyers in the UK contacted Perry’s team as soon as they learned of the usage.

A friendly settlement was reached following easy negotiations.

Kofi Nti said he was happy with the result and that the procedure was professional and kind.

This development emphasizes how Ghanaian music is becoming more well-known throughout the world and how crucial it is for musicians to safeguard their intellectual property internationally.
