Revealed: Ghana Paid Milovan Rajevac Over $100,000 Following His Dismissal.

Henry Asante-Twum, the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) director of communications, said that the organization gave former Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac more than $100,000 in compensation following his termination.

Rajevac, who took over as head coach after CK Akonnor, was fired after the squad lost in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage in Cameroon.

After the Sports Ministry directed the GFA to restructure the Black Stars Management Committee, he was fired.

Asante-Twum talked about the financial burden the GFA faced in paying Rajevac’s unpaid invoices in an interview with Joy Sports.

Asante Twum said, “Milo [Milovan Rajevac] went to FIFA after being fired because he didn’t have time to waste.”

“FIFA ruled in Milo’s favour, and we had to pay over $100,000. It was about $117,000 or so. Despite several pleas, the Ministry wasn’t forthcoming, so the FA had to settle the amount,” he added.

He said the GFA’s cautious assessment of current Black Stars coach Otto Addo’s future has been impacted by this experience.

Numerous football supporters have called for Addo’s termination after he failed to guide the team to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament.

The Executive Council has not yet made a decision on Addo’s term after a lengthy meeting.

Ghana’s Black Stars suffered a significant blow as they were eliminated from the 2024 AFCON, losing out on the competition for the first time in 21 years after finishing last in Group F with just three points.

The team’s subpar play and the GFA’s financial struggles paying fired coaches have heightened calls for changes to the national team’s administration.
