Patience Ozokwor Earns Her First Doctoral Degree At 66.

An honorary doctorate in Theatre and Media Arts has been awarded to veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, also referred to as “Mama G,” by the Achievers Network Academy in the United Kingdom.

The 66-year-old actress received recognition for her services to African and Nollywood film over the years.

In a ceremony on Saturday, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) gave the award and honored Yoruba actors Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko for their illustrious contributions to the industry.

Ozokwor shared her thanks and joy on Instagram, writing, “Today was like a movie.” Honorary Doctorate. UNILAG, thank you. Thank you.

Nollywood pioneer Patience Ozokwor started out as a radio host before becoming well-known for the 1999 movie Authority.

With over 100 movies to her credit, her standout performances include classics like Ukwa (2001), Blood Sister (2003), and Billionaires Club (2003).
