One dead after high-speed overtaking attempt leads to head-on collision at Apam Junction.

A driver has died following a head-on collision between a KIA Picanto and a Hyundai Rhino at Gomoa Ankamu (Apam Junction) on April 18, the Ghana National Fire Service has confirmed.

The Apam Fire Station received a running call at the station at 6:40 pm reporting the accident. Firefighters arrived at the scene and observed that both vehicles had been severely damaged.

According to an eyewitness, both vehicles were moving in opposite directions. The Hyundai Rhino, which was heading towards Winneba, attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed, lost control, and collided with the KIA Picanto, which was heading towards Cape Coast.

Firefighters rescued one casualty who was trapped in the KIA Picanto. The victim was transported to Saint Luke Hospital by the Ambulance Service but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage. No further casualties were reported.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Police.
