Ghana and Brazil deepen cultural ties ahead of Afro-Brazilian Festival

Ghana and Brazil have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cultural cooperation through the upcoming Afro-Brazilian Ghanaian Festival, scheduled to take place on 12th and 13th December 2025 at the Gold Coast Bar and Grill in Accra.
The festival, themed “Bridging Rhythms, Cultures, and Spirits,” will showcase a rich blend of traditional and contemporary music, dance, art and cuisine. It will also feature a cultural symposium and a collaborative concert aimed at highlighting the shared heritage of both nations.
In preparation for the event, a meeting was held at the Black Star Experience Secretariat between Mr Rex Omar, Chief Executive Officer of the Secretariat, and Mr Fuseini Mohammed, CEO of Big Twins Africa, together with Alexandre Souto, Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Brazil in Ghana. Representatives from the Big Twins Africa Music and Dance Ensemble, the festival’s lead Ghanaian organisers, were also present.
The discussions focused on building strategic partnerships, selecting artistes in line with the festival’s vision and budget, and ensuring that performances authentically reflect the cultural essence of the celebration.
Organisers say the festival will not only promote cultural exchange but also strengthen people-to-people ties between Ghana and Brazil, celebrating their historical and contemporary connections.
