During a meeting today, Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, addressed Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club players, urging them to demonstrate their ability to reverse the club’s current poor performance.
At present, Kotoko is experiencing a challenging period in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season, ranking 11th out of 18 teams. With only one draw and six losses in seven games during the second half of the season, the team’s situation is dire.
At the conclusion of the first round, Kotoko enjoyed a more favorable standing, having secured four wins and a draw in December, placing them second in the league. However, their recent decline has prompted Otumfuo to issue a call to action, challenging the players to step up and improve their performance.
“I am expecting something better from you” he said before briefly touching on Kotoko’s under fire head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum’s standing with the club stating,
“Prove to me that you are capable and if the coach is the problem, then I will take a decision on him. But for now, make sure you go and play and win.”
