Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has explained the rationale behind the appointment of Black Queens Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren as part of the Black Stars’ technical team.
The GFA announced that they have strengthened the technical team of the senior national team with five new additions.
The new faces include French coach Alain Ravera, Spanish analyst Jose Daniel MartÃnez Alfonso, Carlos Lozano Romero, and Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi.
Speaking in an interview, Asante Twum said the decision was based onBjörkegren’s proven track record and the value he continues to bring to Ghana football.
“With what Kim has achieved so far, he has justified his expertise, and we believe he has something extra to contribute to the team. For now, his full concentration is on the Black Queens, and after March, he will turn his attention to the Black Stars,” he told Akoma FM.
Asante Twum revealed that the Swedish coach is currently in Ghana to continue preparations with the Black Queens ahead of the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
“Kim is in Ghana to continue with the Black Queens’ preparation for the Women’s AFCON. The mission is clear: to qualify for the World Cup. After the tournament in March, he will then join the Black Stars,” he added.
