The Ghana Football Association (GFA) owes Black Stars head coach Otto Addo four months’ worth of unpaid salaries, according to Henry Asante Twum, the GFA’s communications director.
Asante Twum admitted the unpaid payments in an interview with Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, but he also gave the assurance that discussions with the Ministry of Sports are still ongoing with the goal of finding a solution.
“We owe Otto Addo four months’ salary arrears. We have had a series of meetings with the Sports Ministry about the outstanding payment and Otto Addo himself is aware of how difficult it is to get the monies from government but we are still working on it,” Asante Twum added.
After the Black Stars finished last in Group F and were unable to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Addo’s future as coach of the team is still in doubt.
The Black Stars have lost three games and drawn three, earning them just three points after six games.
Otto Addo receives a salary of $50,000 per month and was reappointed in March 2024 on a three-year contract with a two-year extension option.
