Asante Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil has apologised to the fans of the club following the elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors’ hopes of making it to the group phase of the competition were dashed after suffering a 6-1 aggregate scoreline against Wydad Athletic Club.
Kotoko suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second round of the preliminary round of games before losing 5-1 in the return leg in Casablanca.
After the elimination, O’Neil has apologised to fans of the club, assuring them they will fight to win the Premier League and FA Cup titles.
“It is difficult to take, but we apologise to our fans,” he said.
“We need to keep our heads up and win both the league and the FA Cup to compensate for this loss,” the Congolese defender added.
Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, will turn their attention to the Ghana Premier League.
