Why Karim Benzema Is Heading Back To Real Madrid

Al-Ittihad has revealed that Karim Benzema, the French striker, is returning to Real Madrid to receive medical attention for an injury.

The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner left Santiago Bernabeu in 2023 to join Cristiano Ronaldo, a former teammate, in Saudi Arabia. The 36-year-old frontman’s inability to maintain his condition has kept him from having the effect he wants in the Middle East.

Benzema has scored 16 goals in 33 matches this season. However, he missed Al-Ittihad’s last two games due to an injury. He watched from a distance as his team was knocked out of the King’s Cup by Al-Hilal on Tuesday.

It’s been disclosed that Benzema will receive treatment at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex. A statement from Al-Ittihad confirms: “Karim Benzema has gone back to Real Madrid for medical tests on his season’s injury, following discussions between Al-Ittihad’s medical team and Real Madrid.”

Benzema is scheduled to stay in Spain till the end of next week, after which he will travel back to Jeddah to rejoin the Al-Ittihad team. How much of an impact he will have in the club’s last five games of the 2023–24 season is yet to be determined.
