An important milestone in Asante Kotoko’s continuous reorganization efforts has been reached with the announcement of Kwasi Appiah as the new Head of Sporting Affairs.
In addition to being the head coach of the Sudanese national team, Appiah was the club’s Interim Management Committee’s (IMC) Technical Director.
Following the appointment of club veteran Malik Jabir as the new Technical Director, he underwent a shift.
Former IMC member Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has been moved to concentrate only on his position as head coach. Both Jabir and Ogum will now answer directly to Kwasi Appiah under the updated arrangement.
Appiah’s appointment comes after he recently led Sudan to a thrilling victory over Ghana, earning them a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Despite Sudan’s difficulties due to a civil conflict and the need to play home games outside of the nation, this accomplishment was made.
Appiah, a 1982 AFCON champion and former player, will also return to his role on the Ghana Football Association Executive Council. His suspension has been revoked in connection with the Ghana-Sudan match during the 2024 international window.
Asante Kotoko recently defeated Aduana Stars in domestic play to snap a four-game losing run. The club will play Future Stars at Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in the MTN FA Cup Round of 64 on Sunday, December 1.
They will then prepare for a highly anticipated clash against Hearts of Oak in Matchday 13 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium.
