The accusations against the four individuals filed in the Fiapre Circuit Court in relation to Francis Yaw Frimpong’s [Nana Pooley] stabbing death in Nsoatre have been dropped by the prosecution team.
On February 2, 2025, at Nana Kromansah Park in Twumasikrom, close to Nsoatre, Bono Region, Nana Pooley was stabbed during a Ghana Premier League game between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.
In violation of Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29), Isaac Fosu, 28, Yeboah Augustine, 35, Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwa (Akosua Black Chinese), 37, and Yaa Asantewaa, 37, were accused of aiding and abetting a crime, specifically murder.
In violation of Section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29), two other people, Briamah (Rasta) and Yaw Koshy, are still at large and are charged with the same crimes. Briamah is also charged with murder.
On Friday, February 7, 2025, the four defendants were refused bail. Her Honour Akua Addae Adoma asserts that because the case is a criminal, the Fiapre Circuit Court does not have jurisdiction.
The suspects were directed to stay in police custody and make a new appearance at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Her Honour Akua Addae Adoma struck down the case as withdrawn after the prosecutor, Inspector Alexander Oppong, retracted the allegations against the defendants.
Meanwhile, the prosecution team at the Bono Regional Police Headquarters is preparing to refile the case at the Sunyani District Court.
The Ghana Police Service has so far arrested seven people, with two, including Nsoatreman FC owner and former Sunyani West MP Ignatius Baffour Awuah, granted bail to reappear on February 17, 2025.
