Ghana defender Rockson Yeboah impressed on his first start for Osasuna despite the Spanish side suffering a 2-0 defeat to Espanyol in LaLiga on Saturday.
Yeboah was handed his first start at the El Sadar Stadium after previously making his debut as a substitute in Osasuna’s 5-2 defeat away to Alaves.
The 22-year-old centre-back took his opportunity, producing a solid display at the heart of Osasuna’s defence despite the disappointing result.
Yeboah won six of his eight duels, including both of his aerial battles, while also winning four of six ground duels.
He made five clearances, one interception and five recoveries as Osasuna struggled to contain Espanyol.
The Ghanaian also showed confidence in possession, completing 59 of his 65 passes for a 91 per cent accuracy rate.
He completed eight of nine long passes and six of seven passes into the final third, while recording 13 progressive carries and eight progressive passes.
Yeboah also completed both of his attempted dribbles and registered one key pass and a through pass during his appearance.
Despite his individual performance, Osasuna could not prevent Espanyol from securing all three points.
Yeboah joined Osasuna from IFK Göteborg in August in a €3 million transfer and signed a contract running until June 2031.
The defender had started the 2026/27 campaign in Sweden, making three appearances for Göteborg in UEFA Conference League qualifying before completing his move to Spain.
He played every minute of Göteborg’s three qualifying matches, starting all three games.
Yeboah joined Göteborg from Ghanaian club YAP FC in August 2024 after previously spending part of the 2023/24 season on loan at AEK Athens B.
The Berekum-born defender has now made his first start in Spain’s top flight and will hope his impressive showing against Espanyol earns him further opportunities in Osasuna’s defence.
