No approach to Tom Saintfiet regarding the vacant Black Stars coaching role

No contact made: Tom Saintfiet not in contention for Black Stars job.

The Ghana Football Association has not made any approach to Tom Saintfiet regarding the vacant Black Stars coaching position.

Amid growing speculation over potential candidates to replace Otto Addo, sources have confirmed that Saintfiet is not under consideration and is not part of the current shortlist being discussed by the Association.

The Belgian tactician, who has built a reputation working across Africa and previously managed several national teams on the continent, had been loosely linked to the role in some quarters.

However, sources close to the Belgian tactician indicate that the GFA has not held any talks or exploratory discussions with him.

Instead, the Association is focused on pursuing other options as it seeks to appoint a new head coach ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The urgency to secure a replacement has intensified following Ghana’s recent struggles in international matches, which ultimately led to Addo’s departure.

The GFA is believed to be prioritizing candidates with strong international pedigree and the ability to quickly impose a clear tactical identity on the team.

With limited time before the next round of preparations, the decision-making process has become increasingly critical.

While Saintfiet remains an experienced figure within African football, particularly noted for his organizational approach and ability to manage emerging football nations, he is currently not part of Ghana FA’s plans.

Attention now shifts to other high-profile targets as the GFA continues its search for a coach capable of restoring confidence and guiding the Black Stars into a new era.

An official announcement on the next head coach is expected once negotiations with preferred candidates are concluded.
