Some areas still in blackout after Sunday’s storm — ECG

East Legon, Dansoman, Adabraka among areas still in blackout after Sunday’s storm — ECG.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has confirmed that engineers are working around the clock to restore power to 19 outstanding feeders in Accra and Tema following a heavy rainstorm that battered parts of the country on Sunday, leaving a trail of destruction across the electricity distribution network.

In an update issued on Sunday evening, the ECG disclosed that a total of 57 feeders in the Greater Accra and Tema enclaves were affected during the downpour.

While 38 of these have since been successfully restored, 19 remain outstanding, with several communities still grappling with outages as restoration efforts continue.

According to the statement, areas yet to see power restored include Nmaijorm, parts of Ashley Botwe, parts of Lakeside Estates, parts of Lartebiokorshie, Zongo Junction, Parakuo Estate, Pure Fire, BOG Warehouse, Papaya, Adabraka, parts of South Industrial Area, parts of East Legon, Russia, Zamrama Line, Sukura, Ayawaso, Olebu, Ashuman, parts of Dansoman, parts of North Kaneshie, Gandour Cosmetics, Sintex, and surrounding areas.

The company acknowledged that the rainstorm had caused significant disruptions to its network, with fallen conductors, uprooted poles, and damaged infrastructure hampering supply in several areas. Engineers, the ECG noted, have been working diligently since the storm subsided to identify faults and carry out repairs.

“We wish to assure all affected customers that our engineers have been working diligently to resolve the issues and restore power supply,” the statement read.

The ECG further urged customers experiencing localised outages to utilise the various channels available for reporting faults. These include the Contact Centre on 0302611611, reporting to the nearest ECG office, lodging a complaint via the ECG PowerApp, or reaching out through the company’s official social media handles on Facebook, X, and Instagram.

The company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and appealed for patience from affected customers as teams work to fully restore normal supply.
